Trong nồi sạch, cho nước vào đun sôi thì thịt vịt đã xào vào, thêm sấu và sả đun cho thịt chín. Sau đó thêm khoai sọ vào, đun tiếp cho đến khi khoai chín. Nêm 1.5 muỗng canh hạt nêm, 2 muỗng cà phê đường và 1 muỗng cà phê bột ngọt.
Múc canh ra tô và dùng nóng. Vịt om sấu khoai sọ với thịt vịt béo ngậy kết hợp cùng vị chua, mát của sấu, bùi bùi của khoai sọ là món ngon phù hợp cho ngày hè.
